Surgical Pty Ltd recognises the tyranny of living in remote country areas, for which specialist medical care is either very distant, or difficult to afford.
As a policy, our doctors provide bulk billing services for all consultations, reviews, and treatment x-rays (when provided in Newcastle) for all patients who travel further than 130km from home (regardless of location).
Most treatment is also subsidised under Medicare, and we will work with your regional dentist or regional GP to make sure that you are registered under appropriate rebate schemes where appropriate. In particular the IPTAAS service can provide travel subsidy when seeking specialist medical treatment.
Our general treatment policy is to first provide a treatment consultation (which includes an informed consent process), and then a separate appointment for your treatment. For the vast majority of our patients, this is a convenient and safe means of management of clientele that live locally, or within reasonable distance of the practice.
Coordinating both consultation and treatment appointments for patients on the same day is nearly impossible. However if you anticipate traveling large distances to see us, please inform our receptionist staff, and we will make every attempt at assisting you in gaining as much utility out of your long journey to visit us.
Importantly, you should advise our receptionist staff precisely as to the nature of your condition. In this regard, you should provide as many personal details to us as possible, and rely heavily upon the wording of your specific referral. If you feel that you can accept a specific treatment outcome over the phone, and are willing to commit to treatment when you arrive, it is almost certainly possible that we can coordinate several areas of potential care for your day of arrival, including...
- Specialist CT scans (please note that not all CT scans are the same. We recommend only certain service providers on the basis of image quality, relevance and software manipulation)
- I-CAT services (these are highly specialized dental imaging services, that are occasionally used)
- Pathology services
- Our own clinic for potential provision of minor oral surgery
Because the nature of everyone's condition is unique, the practice receptionists staff cannot predict without a formal surgeon's consultation the appropriate treatment plan for all patients. The practice reserves the right to alter anticipated treatment plans at any stage following a formal consultation process, and cannot guarntee that treatment will or can occur on the day of consultation.
You may wish to submit an email & attach photos of your mouth, teeth or face, or even your x-ray. Whilst we cannot guarnatee that a surgeon will review your case prior to seeing you at consultation, such information can help us in providing appropriate direction on appointment management.
