Why is it important to understand what types of procedures are considered specialist Oral Surgery, and what are considered to be Specialist Maxillofacial Surgery?
Ancillary health insurance (Dental Insurance) covers dental procedures, and which includes oral surgery procedures. Oral surgery procedures may be provided by a general dentist (dental surgeon), or by a specialist dentist (oral surgeon).
Hospital insurance and Medicare in combination, or separately, only cover surgical procedures provided by surgical specialists. These include most maxillofacial surgical procedures.
