MULTIPLE ANTERIOR IMPLANTS
Replacing the fractured maxillary central incisor teeth

Treatment provided by Dr Robert Dalby (implant-restorative dentist) and Dr Paul Coceancig (oral & maxillofacial surgeon).

This 19 year old farrier was kicked in the face by a horse the previous day, with shattering of the two front teeth.

The traditional forms of therapy which were to devitalise the live teeth, and for later root canal and crown replacement were not possible as the teeth roots were also shattered with the injury.

Fractures also involve underlying bone, and the attached gum tissue. For long term maximal aesthetic results, treatment must be immediate.

Use of narrow healing abutments, with staged widening of the peri-implant gums, allows for both healing of the torn gums, and for moulding of papillae between natural and future zirconia- porcelain crowns.

A temporary denture was placed once gum healing had maximised, and four months after the injury, crowns were placed.

Removal of the teeth, and repair of the fractured local bone and torn gums was enhanced by immediate implant replacement of the teeth.
